Pro Tip · Multi-Device Zero-Install LAN Proxy

Connect One Laptop, Share Clean Proxy to All Phones & Tablets.

One laptop breaks the deadlock: elders who will not switch Apple ID, a phone that still has no client after landing, and a Switch / Apple TV / Kindle that cannot install a proxy app. If the computer is already set up, turn on LAN sharing and the whole room is online.

👴 Elders & kids skip the App Store

Traveling parents or children who will not switch Apple ID just join the laptop share — no complex client.

🛬 Landed without a client

Phone is not set up yet and you urgently need maps or messages. One configured laptop breaks the deadlock.

🎮 Consoles and e-readers too

Switch, Apple TV, and Kindle cannot install a proxy app. Sharing the laptop connection gets them online.

iHow It Works

Computer Acts as a Local HTTP Proxy Gateway

When 'Allow LAN' is enabled, the client on your PC/Mac opens an HTTP proxy port (default 7890) on your local Wi-Fi. Other devices direct their web traffic to this port, and your computer transparently handles encryption and split routing.

1

Step 1: Enable LAN Sharing on PC/Mac & Get Local IP

Enable 'Allow LAN' on your configured Mac/PC and retrieve your computer's local IP address.

1. Enable 'Allow LAN'

Open ClashMac, Clash Verge Rev, or Hiddify. In Settings, toggle on "Allow LAN (Allow connections from LAN)".

2. Check HTTP Port

Default HTTP proxy port is 7890 (or the mixed port shown in the app).

3. Find Mac's Local IP

Hold Option (⌥) and click the Wi-Fi icon in the top menu bar to view your IP Address (e.g. 192.168.1.105).

💡 Mac Tip:You can also go to macOS System Settings → Wi-Fi → Details next to connected network to view your IPv4 address. Proxy remains active as long as your Mac is awake.

Step 2: Configure Wi-Fi Proxy on Phone / iPad / TV

Connect to the same Wi-Fi network and set HTTP Proxy to Manual in Wi-Fi settings.

1

Connect to Same Wi-Fi

Go to iPhone Settings → Wi-Fi, ensure you connect to the exact same Wi-Fi SSID as your computer.

2

Tap ⓘ Detail Icon

Tap the blue 'ⓘ' button next to the connected Wi-Fi and scroll down to the bottom.

3

Configure Manual Proxy

Tap 'Configure Proxy' under HTTP Proxy and switch from 'Off' to 'Manual'.

4

Enter Values & Save

Server: 192.168.1.105, Port: 7890, Authentication: Off, tap Save.

4 Essential Troubleshooting & Pitfall Tips

Step-by-step diagnostic fixes if client devices cannot reach the internet

🏨Tip 1: Hotel Wi-Fi Client Isolation (AP Isolation)Most Common

Symptom: IP & port are correct, but phone connection times out.
Cause: High-end hotels often enable "AP Isolation", preventing devices on the same Wi-Fi from talking to each other.
🔥 100% Fix: Turn on Mobile Hotspot on your Mac/PC, connect your phone to your computer's hotspot Wi-Fi, and use the hotspot gateway IP!

🛡️Tip 2: Computer Firewall Blocking LAN PortCommon on Windows

Symptom: Internet works on computer, but mobile device fails.
Solution: In Windows Firewall, set Wi-Fi network profile to 'Private Network' and allow inbound traffic for the proxy client app.

💤Tip 3: Laptop Sleep Interrupts ConnectionSystem Behavior

Symptom: Proxy drops as soon as laptop lid is closed.
Solution: Host laptop must remain awake. In Power / Battery settings, enable 'Prevent automatic sleeping when connected to power'.

🚪Tip 4: Disable Proxy Before Leaving Wi-FiMust Do When Leaving

Symptom: All apps report 'No Internet' when leaving hotel Wi-Fi.
Solution: Before going out, open Wi-Fi details and toggle Configure Proxy back to Off.
